Mid-Illinois Communication Association offers several awards to recognize outstanding individuals for excellence in communications within our community and throughout our Association.
Professional Communicator
The Professional Communicator Award is presented annually to any Springfield area communications professional who has made a significant contribution or impact in the community as a leader and innovator throughout their career, and especially during the past year.
MICA
Star
The MICA Star Award is presented annually to an AWC Springfield member for their outstanding involvement and participation in the chapter.
Good Golly
Miss Molly
The Good Golly Miss Molly Award kindness award was established in memory of past president Molly Hall.
2022 Distinguished Service Award
Nancy Zimmers, retired director of public affairs at SIU School of Medicine, and a founding member of the Springfield chapter of AWC, was honored for her distinguished service to the organization. The nomination said: Nancy spent an inordinate amount of time getting our chapter ready for our 40th Anniversary event last fall.

Some of the tasks she took on included contacting former chapter presidents and diligently following all leads to ensure the highest level of participation possible.
Among many duties she also coordinated communication with participants and helped host the event. In addition, Nancy is a standout for our chapter due to her passion for our organization. Once again this year, Nancy epitomized what a star she has been and continues to be!
